The City Clerks Office serves as a partner in democracy and is committed to providing courteous and professional customer service.
The office of the City Clerk is a service department within the municipal government upon which the City Council, all City departments, and the general public rely for information regarding the operations and legislative history of the City. The City Clerk serves as the liaison between the public and City Council and provides related municipal services.
The responsibilities of the City Clerk include the following operational categories:
Council legislative Operation: Prepares and distributes City Council and Community Development Commission agendas and attends meetings; records and communicates all Council legislative actions and proceeding in meetings, ordinances, resolutions and minutes.
Documentation, Certification and Legal Notices: Certifies authenticity of municipal corporate documents for public officials, governmental agencies, courts, and the general public; and maintains custody of corporate seal.
Records Management: Maintains in protective custody all documents certifying municipal corporate actions and authority including agenda related materials, public notices, historic documents, etc.
Fair Political Practices Commission Statements: Filing of campaign reports and statements of economic interest for designated employees and elected officials.
Information Liaison: Provides variety of information gathering and records retrieval research services to the public and public officials regarding elections, city government, legislative processes and actions, municipal corporate history, Fair Political Practices Commission filings, etc.
Municipal Code: Prepares applicable ordinances in a book form, maintaining updates, subscriptions, duplication and distribution in a timely manner.
Election Operation: Coordinates elections with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder County Clerk’s Office for candidates running for elective office; informs the public on election matters and voter registration.
City Council Agendas:
The City Council Agenda is available by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the regular scheduled meeting. The Maywood City Council meets every second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Maywood City Hall, Council Chamber, 4319 E. Slauson Ave., Maywood, CA 90270.

Minutes
Minutes of each Council Meeting are approved by the Maywood City Council and will be posted on the City’s website upon approval.
Elections
Elections are held every two years, on the odd years. The City Council is made up of a Mayor and four Councilmembers. The next election will be held on November 3, 2013.
